Percival uses a distinct illustrative style to bridge the gap between the natural world and a storybook imagination. The leopard’s spots and the sloth’s fur are treated as opportunities for repetitive patterning, creating a visual rhythm that moves the eye across the squared composition. There is a deliberate softness to the characters, stripping away the ferocity of the jungle to focus on the charm of an unlikely bond.

The artwork functions as a study in character-driven nature illustration, where the orientation and framing provide a neat, contained window into this peaceful scene. By placing these two distinct creatures together, the piece emphasizes a sense of harmony and curiosity. It is a work that values the clarity of line and the warmth of a shared gaze, making the wild feel approachable and kind.
