In this work, Hearn utilizes the tactile nature of collage to bridge the gap between the domestic and the wild. A vibrant yellow door serves as the focal point, acting as a structural anchor amidst a surreal arrangement of natural elements. By repurposing vintage aesthetics, the artist evokes a sense of nostalgia that feels both familiar and strange, suggesting that every journey inward begins with a familiar frame of reference.

Moving beyond a simple landscape, the composition plays with scale and perspective to create a dreamlike atmosphere. The juxtaposition of the architectural door against the organic sprawl of nature highlights a tension between human boundaries and the limitless reach of the outdoors. It is a quiet meditation on discovery, where the act of opening a door becomes a profound leap into a surreal, uncharted territory.
