Art Analysis
From the artist, Yuli Saputra
The quiet intersection of geometric form and drifting shadow.
In this work, Saputra explores the intersection of defined form and soft, organic presence. The sharp edges of geometric shapes are softened by the inclusion of shadows that appear to drift across the surface, suggesting a light source just beyond the frame. These smooth textures invite a tactile appreciation, grounding the abstract elements in a way that feels both solid and fleeting.
The arrangement relies on a restrained palette and a focus on essential lines, characteristic of a Scandi-inspired aesthetic. By stripping away excess detail, the artist allows the interplay of light and dark to take center stage, resulting in an intriguing atmosphere that feels quiet yet deeply intentional. The classic frame provides a traditional boundary for this modern exploration of depth and shape.
The artist utilizes refined angular shapes and faceted forms to build the dog's likeness from a series of sharp, interlocking planes.
The composition reflects a Scandi aesthetic through its clean lines and focus on the elemental simplicity of the northern landscape.
Fluid, soft-edged shadows contrast with the hard lines of the geometry to create a sense of mystery and depth.
