Central stem and branching buds
A single plant stands in the middle of this black and white photograph, set against a solid black background. The composition follows a thin stem that splits into two separate stalks. On the left, a cluster of open petals forms the largest shape in the image, topped by a curved row of closed buds. The right stalk is shorter and ends in its own small line of unopened buds. The view is a close-up that looks directly at the plant from the base of the stem to the highest petal.
The monochrome tones highlight the different shapes of the plant. While the open flower occupies the upper middle section, the closed buds create repeating patterns along the tips of the stalks. The dark design removes all surroundings, leaving only the light-colored plant to stand out against the darkness. This arrangement emphasizes the decorative structure of the stalks and the texture of the petals without any other visual distractions.
This work is part of a pair, offering a dark version of the subject that contrasts with the bright design found in the other piece of the series.
