Drawing inspiration from the bold color blocks and expressive linework of Henri Matisse, this composition uses a delicate watercolour technique to soften the boundaries between the indoors and the world outside. The portrait orientation focuses the eye on the intimate details of the bedroom—the rumpled textures of the bed and the play of light across the floor—while a window view suggests a distant, sun-drenched city.

By blending a vintage travel aesthetic with abstract forms, the artist captures the specific nostalgia of waking up in a new place. The wash of pigments creates a sense of airy transparency, allowing the viewer to feel the stillness of a slow morning where the urban bustle remains a quiet, painterly backdrop to a moment of rest.
