Art Analysis
Grid of textured geometric motifs
Shelly Bremmer builds this geometric modern abstract pattern using a rigid grid of forty-two blocks. The eye begins at the center, where a horizontal band of rectangles cuts across the middle of the composition. From there, the gaze moves outward to the six columns and seven rows of shapes. While the corners and edges repeat identical square blocks to create symmetry, the central vertical line introduces unique circles and squares that anchor the design.
The image relies on a variety of basic shapes, including triangles and circles set within larger squares. These forms use a wide range of colors such as orange, red, purple, and green. Many of these colored areas are not solid; instead, they show a mottled or textured look that breaks up the flat surfaces. This variety in tone and texture contrasts with the straight, clean lines of the rectangular grid.
