Art Analysis
From the artist, Melanie Viola
Overlapping circles and metallic streaks
This vertical composition is built from a mix of soft shapes and thin, energetic lines against a grainy off-white background. A large grey circle dominates the upper left, balanced by two smaller yellow shapes that have a metallic appearance. Thin grey lines scribble across the middle and right side, cutting through the larger forms. The background features long, vertical streaks of gold color that look like they were applied with a dry brush, running from top to bottom.
Small details add texture to the edges of the image. Two distinct areas filled with tiny black dots sit at the top and bottom right. These dotted sections contrast with the smooth grey circle and the rougher texture of the gold streaks. The colors are limited to grey, yellow, gold, and black, creating a clean look that matches the artist's description of a minimalistic Mid-Century graphic style.
This piece is the second entry in a series that includes Mid-Century Vintage No. 1 and No. 3, all featuring the same gold color scheme.
