Art Analysis
A vertical study in geometric symmetry and light.
In Reflections 4, Böhmer utilizes a portrait orientation to ground a composition built on symmetry and structural depth. The work focuses on the way light interacts with surface, creating a sense of layered space that invites the eye to move vertically through its various segments. By emphasizing the vertical axis, the artist creates a steady, architectural feel that anchors the abstract elements.
The piece functions as a study of visual echoes, where each shape seems to respond to its counterpart across the frame. This methodical approach to composition results in a calm, balanced atmosphere, stripping away the unnecessary to focus on the core relationship between form and its reflected double. The result is a grounded exploration of geometry that feels both deliberate and serene.
The portrait orientation creates an intimate, narrow field of view that draws the viewer closer to the subject.
The piece explores the mirroring of shapes to create a sense of internal logic and visual harmony.
A sense of grounded stability is achieved through the careful alignment of irregular shapes within the upright frame.
