The artwork balances the bold clarity of a cartoon aesthetic with the layered depth of a digital painting, allowing the subject to appear as if she is drifting through a calm, sun-dappled current.
By utilizing a square format, the artist centers the viewer's attention on the physical flow of the swim. The drawing avoids unnecessary clutter, instead relying on the expressive silhouette and the gentle tilt of the mermaid's form to convey a sense of peace.
