In this composition, Carla Daly brings a sense of personality to the deep blue through the depiction of smiling whales. The vertical orientation allows the viewer to follow the upward movement of these sea creatures, emphasizing their scale while maintaining a friendly, illustrative charm. The focus remains on the cheerful disposition of the subjects, stripping away the mystery of the ocean to reveal a world defined by warmth and simplicity.

The artwork relies on clean lines and a clear narrative to engage the viewer, making the aquatic environment feel both intimate and expansive. By centering the whales as the primary subjects, Daly creates a focal point that radiates a sense of calm and playfulness. The piece functions as a window into a serene underwater gathering where the natural world is rendered with a kind and welcoming hand.
