Art Analysis
From the artist, Melanie Viola
Upward view of birds and palms
The composition uses a low perspective that looks directly up into the sky. Three palm tree trunks emerge from the bottom edge of the frame, their fronds clustered near the center. Above them, a group of fourteen birds flies in a loose V-shaped formation toward the top right corner. The background consists of a soft color gradient that transitions from a pale green at the top to a light cream tone at the bottom.
The dark olive and grey tones of the trees and birds stand out against the light background. While the palm trees occupy the lower half of the image, the birds are smaller and concentrated in the upper right quadrant. This arrangement follows the artist's description of an idyllic evening scene, placing the subjects within a wide, open space that lacks any lettering or additional landmarks.
