In this portrait-oriented study, Costa explores the architectural complexity of a tropical leaf. The composition relies on the interplay between deep, saturated greens and the delicate light that filters through the foliage, creating a sense of depth that feels both grounded and airy. By focusing on a singular botanical subject, the work highlights the intricate patterns and organic symmetries found in the wild, translating the raw energy of nature into a deliberate, painterly form.

While the title suggests the fluid transparency of watercolor, the application carries the rich, tactile weight of oil painting. This layering creates a nuanced surface where every ridge and curve of the leaf is defined by subtle shifts in tone and value. The result is an illustration that feels alive, capturing the specific character of tropical growth through a steady, observant hand.
