In this piece, Hearn explores the profound silence of open spaces, using the vertical format to draw the eye from the grounded textures of the desert upward toward a cosmic horizon. The work focuses on the intersection of physical solitude and universal connection, where the stark geometry of the wilderness becomes a site for deep, rhythmic contemplation.

The composition utilizes its upright orientation to emphasize a sense of ascension, suggesting that the desert is not merely a dry expanse but a gateway to a larger mystery. By stripping away the unnecessary, Hearn highlights the raw relationship between the terrestrial and the astronomical, inviting a slow, meditative gaze into the depths of the night sky.
