In this portrait-oriented composition, Marja van den Hurk explores the hidden life found within a garden. The artwork centers on the charming tension between the soft, organic shapes of flowers and the sharp, focused presence of a cat. By placing the subject amidst a dense floral arrangement, the artist invites the viewer to share in a moment of discovery, mimicking the way one might stumble upon a pet hiding in the undergrowth.

The vertical format emphasizes the upward growth of the flora, creating a sense of immersion within the greenery. The interplay of colors and textures suggests a lively, sun-drenched environment where domestic life and the natural world overlap. It is a grounded study of personality and place, capturing the specific, watchful energy that defines a cat's interaction with its surroundings.
