Art Analysis
A chromatic map of the internal landscape
In this acrylic work, Flores leans into the fluid potential of her medium to build a composition defined by its saturated palette. The vertical orientation focuses the energy of the piece, pushing the viewer to engage with the upward and downward movement of the pigments as they interact across the surface. Rather than relying on recognizable figures, the artist uses the weight and placement of different hues to suggest a complex psychological landscape.
The piece functions as a sensory exploration of its namesake, using the physical properties of paint to mirror the volatility of human emotion. By stripping away narrative detail, the work invites a direct response to its tonal shifts and textural depth. It is a study in how color alone can anchor a space, providing a focal point that feels both energetic and deeply grounded.
The piece utilizes a wide spectrum of hues to communicate a complex range of emotional states without the need for literal imagery.
By removing physical references, the piece focuses entirely on the internal logic of shape and color.
The portrait orientation influences the flow of the acrylic paint, creating a sense of rising or falling tension within the frame.
